Of course the big news is that Landon Donovan has filed for divorce from his actress wife Bianca Kajlich. According to ABC, Donovan and Kajlich have been separated since October of 2009, but he filed for divorce in Los Angeles recently. Donovan is a U.S. soccer player, and scored one of the U.S. team’s few goals at the World Cup this year. Kajlich is currently playing the role of Jennifer on “Rules of Engagement” (CBS).
According to the US Post Today however, Donovan is seeking spousal support from Kajlich in his divorce papers.
Say whaaaat?
I reckon this is the flip side of women’s lib. If you make good money at your job, be prepared to pay your spouse alimony, regardless of whether you’re the guy or the gal!
I crunched a few numbers though, out of curiosity. Donovan was said to be earning $900,000 a year in 2005 for the Los Angeles Galaxy (per the Washington Post). Five years and some great goals later, I imagine that salary could be double…so let’s say $2 million annually. The Celebrity Net Worth website claims Kajlich makes $3 million per year…so that’s a million dollar annual difference….if any of my figures are correct.
I would guess that Donovan’s spousal support is not going to be much, if anything. But you can’t blame the guy for trying, although honestly I think it’s a little emasculating.
