USS The Sullivans



The earliest USS The Sullivans (Model DD-537) is a Fletcher-class slayer. Ship was named to tribute five Sullivan brothers who lost their lives when their ship named USS Juneau , sunk by a Japanese submarine during a Naval Battle. This loss is remembered as a greatest military loss in a single US family in World War II.

USS The Sullivans offered distinguished services in World War II and the Korean War, later on it was assigned to 6th fleet and served as a training ship she was decommissioned on 7th January 1965. She is now a memorial and open for public tours.
