ST. LOUIS -- Matt Cassel is not showing any ill effects from the appendectomy he underwent 11 days ago.
Cassel just led the Chiefs on a touchdown drive as they took a 7-6 lead over the Rams in the second quarter.
Cassel, who missed last week’s game and was limited in practice this past week, has completed 5 of 10 passes for 56 yards. He has been the victim of two dropped passes and two Kansas City receivers collided on an interception. The underthrown ball was Cassel’s second interception in nine weeks and his fifth of the season.
The key for Cassel is that he is moving around fine and he doesn’t seem overly limited. He has been hit just a couple of times, but he has bounced back well.
It wasn’t determined until shortly before game time that Cassel would play. But he came out firing. He threw passes on the Chiefs’ first three offensive plays of the game.
