Matty Mattel here, the original Toy Guru. (You might know another guy as the toy guru, but trust me, I’m the real deal. We’ll just call him “Jr” Toy Guru from now on.)
Some of you may have met me at Comic-Con, others might be meeting me for the first time. Let me take a moment to introduce myself.
When I was a kid I was the spokeschild for what is now the world’s largest toy company – that’s right, Mattel. In my child star glory days, I was in all the commercials with my trademark catchphrase, "You can tell it's Mattel, it's swell!" Yeah, I know. I was an enthusiastic kid.
You can imagine that as a child working at Mattel I received a lot of free toys. In fact, they gave me one of every toy. Big Jim,™ Major Matt Mason,™ you name it. I got them all. When Mattel decided to “go in a different direction” for their advertising, I still managed to collect everything they produced. Matty
This year Mattel finally brought me back into the fold and promoted me to my dream job: Master Toy Collector of Mattel. No one knows more about Mattel toys than I do, so who better to be in charge of collecting? My first order of business was to put together a website to give you, my fellow Mattel collectors, a place to call home.
