Girl Scout cookies go on sale Jan. 9

Jan 7, 2011

The annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale Girl Scouts will begin Jan. 9 and run through Jan. 23.

Each year, the Girl Scouts of northern Illinois sell cookies to raise money for the council, awards, and the local troops.

The proceeds support scout programs, camp scholarships, volunteer training, membership assistance and outreach programs.

By selling the cookies, the scouts learn about business and economic literacy. Through the participation, girls develop skills they will use their entire lives.

The girls learn goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.

This year the price the scouts will sell cookies at is $4 per box.

Delivery of the cookies will be completed between Feb. 18 and March 20.

Contact cookies4you@girlscoutsni.org to place an order if no local scout asks about ordering cookies. The order will then be passed on to a local Girl Scout.

The Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois serves 20,000 girls including Ogle, Carroll, Stephenson, Lee, Winnebago, and Whiteside Counties.
